Not really. I've built stuff for old cars that used little more than a 7805 and some caps.The power system in a car is no 'bench supply' with superior quality, but shows spikes to plus, minus hundred of volt; voltage exceeding the nominal battery voltage when charging from the motor/generator or low voltage when starter is operated.

When powering a microcontroller "pico" or a RPi from a car power system, then design a power supply which can handle these scenario.
