Is that a RetroPie installation? Maybe look for help in their forum:

If the answer to my question was "yes", and you're using the RP image supplied in their website, take into account that you're using RaspiOS Buster, which is out of support and has a very old bluez version. Still, you are mentioning that you lose connection "when you are in a game" only, so it may be just software related. Which RetroArch core are you using? Does this also happens with "ports" of games?
Can you give yquake2 in the experimental packages a try, and see if the issue continues there? (You don't have to install any "ROM" on your part to make it run).
