Be careful if you are using ZFS on your RPi.

Code:

checking whether wait_queue_entry_t exists... yeschecking whether /dev/zfs minor is available... 249checking whether DECLARE_EVENT_CLASS() is available... nochecking for available kernel interfaces...
It sits here at 6%, makes no progress but get's to 12%, sits there again, for a while then gives this ...

Code:

checking whether bdev_open_by_path() exists... configure: error: *** None of the expected "blkdev_get_by_path()" interfaces were detected.*** This may be because your kernel version is newer than what is*** supported, or you are using a patched custom kernel with*** incompatible modifications.****** ZFS Version: zfs-2.2.3-1~bpo12+1~rpt1*** Compatible Kernels: 3.10 - 6.7
Welp, looks like the 6.12 kernel is not support yet for ZFS. Going to have to sit on my hands for a bit until that is sorted out.

[EDIT]

Turns out, you just need to go the long way around. Once you install the latest version of ZFS (with this 6.12 kernel held back or omitted) it will let you update ZFS to a version that works with 6.12 then you can install 6.12. If you want to see a funny ChatGPT conversation you can read that here where I do the merry go round for fixing this. To be fair, ChatGPT was shockingly insightful even if it made a few ChatGPT shaped holes in the wall while "we" worked though it.
