I should also point out that the "post(s) near the bottom with several changes" in the thread you mentioned. won't work with Bookworm.
viewtopic.php?t=364247#p2301943: uses systemd-networkd but Bookworm does all network configuration through Network Manager. Step 4 is also wrong. You need to do that on the USB host machine, not on the PI and it assumes a Linux host with old school interface naming.
And it uses teh wrong firewall - Bookworm uses nftables not iptables.

If your Mac is not already set up to share its connecdtion and you do not already have a working IP connection bewen Pi and Mac it won't help. It also won't help you talk to machines on the Mac's local network by name either (internet name servers don't know about your internal network).
Also bear in mind I won't help resolve issue created by following those posts - they're wrong and I didn't write them. The most relevant post in that thread is most likely viewtopic.php?t=364247#p2272397
