I have the Model 4B, which is connected to my LAN, and the OS that I'm after is the desktop. I usually SSH into my Pi, so yes, all that is connected.Questions
Which Raspberry PI do you have?
Is your network connecting via LAN or WIFI?
Which OS are you installing. Is it the Desktop or Lite version?
Do you have a monitor, keyboard and mouse attached?
[quoteSuggested steps
Download the latest version of the PI Imager https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/
Select the OS and choose to configure WIFI if that's your connection type and SSH
If boot successful, open a terminal and perform a SUDO APT UPDATE then SUDO APT UPGRADE][/quote]
Let me explain how I've done it.
I go to raspberry Pi.com, and chose "Download for kWindows" for the imager. I click on that then it installs it on my machine. In the past I could do that, and after it started, I would see boxes. "Raspberry Pi Device, OS, Storage". I would click on Device, and pick my device. Now, it's just "All". So I click All. Then in the past, I would be able to pick which image I want. Next would be picking your "OS". In the past I could see a list, pick the OS I wanted and move on. Now your greeting with two options either "Erase or "Use custom". No directions or anything about how to find the "img file". So I hunted it for it and found "2025-05-13-raspios-bookworm-arm64-full-.img.xz". So I download this file. Once downloaded, I click on it and the it allowed me to move on. However, they need to remove the ".xz" ending off the file, so it shows up in the download list or mention it in the description. Anyway after that I moved on to storage and found my SD Card. After that, I hit next and it started to write to the disk. <------Battle One over with.
Now comes Battle Two. So I took out my SD Card and placed it inside my Pi. After it boot up, I typed "sudo apt update" in which in the past would start the update. If you look at the attachment, you'll see some carzy stuff that I have never seen before.
It showing me "cannot initiate the connection to archive.raspberrypi.com" the shows me some numbers. Crazy Man. So what is going on?
