I'm sure there are no problems with network. Pi is connected to 300Mbps internet speed with LAN cable, and I can locally connect to smb drive and the copy-paste speeds of files are very decent ~ 30 MB/s. Using Tailscale VPN, speeds drop below 1 MB/s, it means that the loose link is the VPN solution? Maybe tailscale hogs too many of Raspberry Pi resources and there are lighter solutions?
Thank you.

So you've checked every link between every node between the server on your LAN and the remote machine? If you haven't, you can not be "sure there are no problems with network". The best you can say it that there is no problem with your internal network.

Have you checked performance using Tailscale between two devices on your LAN?

The internet is not like a traditional phone line where you have a direct, private circuit between both ends (or at least you do with a pure copper connection).

Data flow is like this: Server - Router - ISP hardware - some other hardware - ... - ISP hardware - router - client. Each of those links (represented by -) are independent and have their own speed and level of congestion. Each device performs differently and has varying levels of congestion.

On top of that, you have en/decryption overheads and, potentially, traffic shaping.

Having a 300Mbps link between your router and your ISP (in both direction?) is no guarantee that every link in the chain has at least that much bandwidth. Even if each link does meet that on paper, you'd still need to have been allocated that much bandwidth by it - simple if you're the only user, not so much if there are others.

As I said above: speed is determined by the slowest link in the chain. You can't get a 747's worth of people over a single tightrope without deboarding and sending them across one at a time.
