VSCode can use a lot of CPU and memory, as can a browser. Are you on a 4K display? For me, running it at 1080p made it a lot faster.On a Raspberry PI 5 with up-to-date RPi OS if I open a Visual Studio Code in a maximized window and then I open any browser (Chromium, Mozilla) in a window on top. The browser is playing an YouTube video (or just having the YouTube page opened). When I move the mouse around and especially when it goes over VSCode, the mouse lags, jerks and skips.
If I minimize any of the windows. There is no issue.
This feels like a poor optimization. I feel that RP 5 hardware could handle this scenario easily. Can this be fixed? Where can I report performance issues?
