What it says on the box and the reality may not be well aligned. I have bought cheap power supplies in the past that claimed to be up to the job and really weren't. Considering how cheap and reliable the official power supply is; it'd surely be sensible for the OP to get one and try it.According to the description that should work.I just checked the exact power supply I bought and it's this one:

I was wrong, it does provide 5A although, despite the reviews, it doesn't work well for me. As you can see, the wire is 1.2m long.
What worries me is that it used to work fine; I connected a camera without any problems last week and everything seemed to work fine.
I will buy an official power supply anyway.
What do you see on screen if you boot with that PSU and no SDCard? In particular, what does the "power" line of the diagnostics say?
