Limited to USB2 though.
That's not too much of a problem. With USB2, 480 Mbps, 16-bit HDMI 1080p requiring 34 Mbit for a full screen update, gives about 15 fps.

That's plenty good enough for additional monitors or where region updates can be applied, and for many applications.

And, if not, users who need more will have to look for more expensive solutions. It's hard to find pricing for current SDM boards but they seem to range from $500 to $5,000. It will be interesting to see what the Pi SDM offering comes in at. As it's CM5-based, the likelihood of it having evolved from the CM5IO board, I can't see it being under $150.

I'm wanting something more Chromecast or Pi Zero 2W priced for a Pi-based adaptor, something around $15. Something cheap where you simply have to suck up its limitations.

I wouldn't object to a 'does everything' adaptor, and using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or Ethernet may have more appeal than USB. But one has to start somewhere. I'm not updating the poll or starting another but comments welcome - I'd like UART so I can drive signage from a Pico.
