There's a chance that your printer might not work at all with a Raspberry Pi. Samsung and HP USB printers from about a decade back can be particularly difficult because the internals sometimes changed but the model number didn't.
But: what process did you go through?
Did you install printer-driver-splix?
What showed up in Control Centre → Printers? Could you see it when you clicked "Add printer"?
