I do not think this has anything to do with Samba or the clients. It works to one share but not the other, so I would be looking at what is different between the two drives. Are they both using the same file system ? are they both mounted in the same way ?
I know that changing the permissions has been tried, but just how ? if 'chmod' was used and the file system is NTFS, then it was a waste of time, it doesn't work.
To put it bluntly, more information is required.
