pls comment on this, is it true and you use own/custom kernel? or a typo?
Anyway, less confusion if you use predictable names (kernel option) or write a udev rule so you give your USB-staick a fancy name.
Other option is to disable onboard SDIO BCM wlan in config.txt then the only option is wlan0
If Debian12 or 13, you need a set of .nmconnetion files to get a bridged hotspot. I once set it up via nmtui, did some later adjustmenst in the .nmconnetion via text editor, like cloned mac address and firewall zone.
