I purchased the cheap eBay offerings some time ago - disappointing performance, noisy, poor output impedance. Only usable with very high input impedance loads. Forget most headphones. The mic input was equally bad.

I did find one relative cheapy recently that works very well. This specific model of UGREEN...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08Y8CZB2S

It operates at 24/96 with a signal-to-noise ratio of "up to" 102dB. I've been using it with a pair of 64-Ohm Sennheiser studio reference headphones and it's totally blown me away for the price. I looked up the datasheet for the DAC it uses and it's surprisingly good for a budget device.

The only problem with UGREEN as a brand is that their product lineup is a very mixed bag and you need to be extremely careful about the specific model of a product you buy with their name on it as it may look nearly identical to another but actually be completely different.
