Given that micropython is working your board sounds OK
This is suspicious. It sounds like you are compiling for a RP2040 rather than an RP2350. Staying in bootsel is exactly what you would see if that was the case.I can put the board into BOOTSEL mode and upload using the arduino IDE but the code doesn't get executed. For example blink doesn't blink the led and helloworld does nothing. The board doesn't even show up as a COM port (only as storage in bootsel).
