A friend of mine had 30-40 devices all configured with static IPs and had to re-IP his network. Not fun.Device set static IP seems not to be the fashion round here.
Static IPs can be assigned via the DHCP/DNS server if you really want a static IP. I run my network this way for the most part, but of course support fully dynamic assignments for random stuff.
IMHO On a typical home network the only devices that absolutely require on-device static IP assignments are the router and DHCP server (if it’s a different device than the router).
