For anyone reading this, please don't believe a word of it. It's nonsense. More recent software is more secure. More recent software gets more bug fixes. This isn't a party line, it's just a fact. The fact that brm doesn't want to go into details should be a massive flag.I get that that is the party line, but I don't buy it. I won't go into the proofs why it is nonsense here.EOL versions don't have that. Security vulnerabilities that exist won't be fixed. If you keep the system sufficiently firewalled from the internet (and ideally other internal computers) then you're unlikely to have any significant problems. Expose it to the internet in any shape or form and you're asking for trouble.
I also understand that there are reasons why people want to propagate said party line.
