Troubleshooting • Force interlaced video over HDMI?

I am trying to put video signal from a rpi 3 into an ancient tv broadcasting system. For whatever reason, it must be interlaced video, but I can only seem to get my pi to output progressive. What we really need is 1080i, effectively, but nothing I have done in config.txt has made a difference

The main thing I tried is of course

Code:

hdmi_cvt=1920 1080 60 3 0 1 0
But that got me nowhere. The pi defaulted to 720p for some reason.

I tried everything in viewtopic.php?t=171726 and several of the branches it sends you down namely,

Code:

hdmi_force_hotplug=1hdmi_group=1hdmi_mode=5

and version of that combined the above code, and hdmi_group=2 or mode=87 and others.

If anyone has any adivce on how to force the pi always output interlaced video never progressive, I would appreciate it
