I am new to these scripts. I am using a pi400 with Ubuntu server 22.04.4 LTS (fully updated). I tried using https://github.com/seamusdemora/RonR-RPi-image-utils to create an image, the destination being sshfs.
I'm 99% sure the problem is with snaps. rsync doesn't get along well with containerization. When I played with Ubuntu long ago, I deleted snaps and all went well. I don't know if snaps can simply be disabled for the duration of backing up and then reenabled (as is necessary with Docker).

Also, be aware that I have nothing to do with https://github.com/seamusdemora/RonR-RPi-image-utils and do not support that posting.
One advantage of rsync based backup solutions like Image File Utilities is they can work on a running system. At the same time, shutting down all Docker, Snap and other containerized applications is not much different in some cases than shutting the whole system down.

If not rsync, how do people backup systems with running containers? Although current versions of Raspberry Pi OS don't rely on containers, if trends continue it's possible the next major release will.

Do you have any thoughts how to deal with running containers?
