OK, PCIe-2 is on the pi, officially not supported for PCIe-3 but seems to work flawlessly as such. But it's just one lane. Adding NVME for faster storage is like having a horse do a dog's pull. It's a waste, it's over the top, a good sd-card is much more in sync with the pi, and I suggest eMMC (or UFS, faster if not for price) is a much better fit for enhancing storage related performance.I too would very much like to see a Pi 500 with an internal SSD.Do the Pi 500 computers internally still have that unpopulated m.2 socket? I'd like to see a model with internal SSD released for Christmas.
Enthusiasts always want better and faster, but will also complain loudly when the result is a higher price. The times I did want it better myself was when rpi zero got 4 cores with zero 2 and the RAM wasn't bumped up to 1GB, and when the RPI 500 did not get full size HDMI connectors. I don't think any of the two would have caused an outrageous price hike or a lot of extra engineering, but I must be wrong here because these specs/features aren't reality. Yet.
Oh, and I forgot, my suggested rpi laptop case only in white/red, coupled with not a little but a large RPI logo on the side. And can I have a wireless mouse too please and a little gizmo to lead the audio jack off the monitor to the front.
