I just went directly to github, Looked for the raspberry pi imager page then browsed the issues log.Ah - sometimes I get focused on one line of thinking and am so intent on it, I miss something going in a different direction, like now.I was suggesting that you use the network install to install Raspberry Pi OS; then boot off that and use it to run imager on to create the OS that you want.
Related, when I was searching for information on this, I was searching with terms like "pi imager won't list devices." Do you remember what you searched for that brought up the thread on Github? Just curious.
