Troubleshooting • Re: Nuked my Pi on accident

Hi guys, I messed up badly and I have absolutely no clue where to even begin fixing the problem.
So I set up my Raspberry pi’s 5 NAS using open media vault, I enabled ssh authentication and installed ufw. However I foolishly tried securing my Pi by changing the port from 80 to 443 on OMV’s web UI. This made OMV inaccessible and I tried fixing it by using these commands.

sudo omv-env set OMV_WEBGUI_PORT_HTTP 80
sudo omv-env set OMV_WEBGUI_PORT_HTTPS 443
sudo omv-salt stage run prepare
sudo omv-salt stage run deploy

After this my pi stopped responding and ssh was disconnected. Further attempts to connect gave the ‘connection timed out’ error. I logged onto my Pi itself and I noticed the IP address had switched to 127.0.0.1. So within 5mins I locked myself out of OMV, disabled SSH and my Pi changed its IP address (I set a static IP in the router). I don’t even know where to look.

It may not help directly, but coincidentally this is the second report in a week claiming that OMV has 'switched' to 127.0.0.1

My understanding is that 127.0.0.1 is the IP loopback address. Valid, and probably always present.

I have never used Open Media Vault, but I suspect some common misunderstanding of how it should be configured and used.
