While that's true of the official RPT M.2 HAT+, Pi Hut sells an M.2 adapter that does allow the case lid to be put in place. It holds the SSD across the board (rather than along it). The one annoyance I found is that the retension nut requires having the screw put in from the bottom, so you need to install the SSD on the adapter before fastening the adapter to the standoffs on the Pi.the case can't be closed because of the M.2 HAT,
