Hello,
I had an issue with the Raspbery Pi imager, and I don't know if a similar one has been detected by someone else.
After flashing a Raspberry Pi image to an SD card using the Raspbery Pi imager. I got that error "the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error" and I'm not able to format it I tried many command lines in windows and linux also the SD card formatter and it seems not working anymore.
" I don't know if a similar one has been detected by someone else."It has. But you have to go back 7 years to find it. So apparently not a common problem.
Of course, every bug or misfeature has to be detected and reported by someone for the first time. But I would tend to assume that the Raspberry Pi Imager utility is widely used and unlikely to be the source of the problem. What is the Hardware/OS combination you are using as the 'workstation' to write the [micro]SD card? Which version of the Imager tool are you using?I did nothing wrong, I used it to re-flash it, an old RaspiOs was already running on it.I used imager_1.8.5.exe to flash the raspios_full_arm64-2024-11-19 in a PNY MicroSDHC 32GB
Do you know from other experience that the card reader/writer hardware in that workstation is compatible with the capacity of the microSD card?As mentioned previously an old version was running on it
What is the background to the now-failed microSD card? Sadly, some such cards are fake/faulty/unreliable from the outset. Branding from a 'reputable' maker may not be sufficient to defend against this.(In other words, I am suggesting that the Imager tool failed to flash the card because the latter already had a latent defect.)It was working properly, I already flashed and run many version on it.It was working just before flashing it!
