I'm trying to move my sd install of pi os to 4T nvme. I have done this move before - but to 500G nvme
So this time i had to use gpt partition - don't think this is the problem but.
usb-boot will move a running system (the SD card in your case) to a USB or NVME device (using MBR or GPT partitioning on the destination device as desired) in a single operation. No other steps needed.
Answer 'No' to 'Use SD card to boot the USB device?' and the SD card will not be altered. Upon completion, simply shutdown, remove the SD card, and the NVME device should boot.
