No you don't. Both work on headless. If you are running headless you need to install the 'Connect LITE'I have a raspberry pi 4 which is connected to the same lan as my pc. I am trying to enable rpi connect but its not working,
sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade
sudo apt install rpi-connect
rpi-connect on
I then get the following error
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ rpi-connect on
✗ Cannot start Raspberry Pi Connect: exit status 1
Am I missing something, I am using the pi 4 headless
version of RPI Connect https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentati ... nnect.html
If no desktop is there it just never shows it as available to use.
Terminal will still be there.
OP
Run it with the doctor option see what it says.
Try a reboot
See what it says
Follow the trouble shooting guide on the linked document (doctor option is described there too).
It tends to work on most OSs, of course only PiOS or I guess remakes of it will have it in the apt 'store '.
