i'm running a PI5 (8G) with PI-OS. (64bit with desktop and recommended apps)
i use it for streaming (disney, prime video, hulu, etc) and DRM plays fine. I believe some time ago, the PI started coming with it installed as part of the PI-OS. at least, i used to have to install it (back in buster days) but now do not.
i believe it is now built-in
so, add me to "should work out of the box" (for the PI-OS)
above applies to both Chromium and firefox. both work fine.
re-reading your post, you say it does not work in ubuntu. both Chromium and firefox on my ubuntu 24.04 work fine.... never installed it.
(accessing DRM as above, mostly streaming. but my ubuntu is on an x86 machine.)
