A power surge from when the electricity comes back on, could easily damage any electrical/electronic equipment. The mSD is much more fragile than a USB stick
Sometimes, after a power outage, it may not come on straight away and may flicker on and off for a while, that also can damage electronic devices. If you don't have surge protector extension leads, I highly recommend that you invest in one or two of them
