FINAL SOLUTON - CASE CLOSED
It turned out that with the old RPi2 running (it is a bit sketchy and stops now and then, that is why it needs to be replaced) I could connect to the remote LAN and actually reach the fiber box/router's admin pages after I found old notes with the login....
The connection to the router's admin page is a bit so-so but I got it working anyway.
So I have now in advance reserved an IP address for the new RPi4 using its MAC address.
And I have added a port forward for another port to the RPi4 address to be used for its VPN operations.
AFAICT this is now set up such that I can finish the RPi4 configuration and then transfer the device to Vienna.
It should "just start up" fine on location and then the new VPN should be operational.
And with the other VPN still active I can connect via that and then manage the new RPi4 via PuTTY.
Now back to actual configuration of the OpenVPN installation (I have of course installed the most recent OpenVPN so some handling/config stuff is different).
Thanks for your input, I learned a bunch.
