It is easy enough to be summarized:
1) if one needs sturdy design in the field, do not pull BOOTSEL to ground during power-on, use it together with reset (RUN) later at stable Vdd to respect datasheet timings (and common sense)
2) if this is just tinkering/developing something on the desk, one can ignore and use BOOTSEL. Very slim chance the board might not boot and even less probable that the Flash gets corrupted (don't lose sleep here)
