need to start-over from a fresh 32bit image when time permits. I'm on a 64-bit with a custom kernel as I wanted to test with a small touchscreen display (not in def_config).More likely the reason is in the different version of the OS/kernel.
I'm using 32-bit kernel 6.6.31, in this case there is no directory /usr/lib/aarch64-linux-gnu
The command 'sudo apt-get install libasound2-plugin-equal'
installs that library in /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/alsa-lib/
Probably the same reason is for the mpv installation. mpd and mpv are there just as an alternative audio player/backend in case vlc (default player) doesn't work for you for some reason. So, it's optional. Though I install it on the disk images and include to the installation steps.
6.6.31 is also quite old btw
