My 1mm JST connectors arrived about three weeks ago and I slid one under the heat sink to make contact with the pins. The tension is such that it hasn't budged even having disconnected and reconnected (nimbly) multiple times. The connection has yet to be broken. The orientation is such that a male to male cable will only work when cutting the TX and RX to swap connections. For anyone hesitant to solder to their board, you could always try it out and see how it works for you as a temporary solution.
