For a low traffic website, either will work more or less equally well for basic web serving. Apache2 has more features, Nginx is more minimalistic for performance. Apache2 is quite capable of serving very high traffic websites, and doing the job well, it's just that it is designed to be feature-rich, whereas Nginx was designed to maximise performance for the basic task.
