I once had 42 Kingston network cards. The idea was channel-bonded 100 mbit has lower latency than gigabit. Unfortunately, half of them were a revision in which the original DEC Tulip controller chip had been substituted by a clone.
The newer cards worked as long as there was not much network traffic after which they'd crash the whole server. It took a month to figure out.
Fido was a naive puppy at the time but continues to make similar mistakes in hope of saving money.
