I want to VPN IN to my lan from a remote location. I was just remarking that the scenario where it makes sense to put a VPN on your router is when you are using a VPN server outside your LAN, e.g. to overcome Netflix region blocking and in that case it's a VPN client that goes on the router and not a server.

An MP3 won't use much bandwidth. Do you ever stream video from your LAN via a VPN connection?
I have an enigma2 tv box that can stream live tv via a web interface so I'm hoping to use the VPN to view those live tv streams when away from home. Will be interesting to see what bandwidth I need. I only get 13Mb/s upload. Maybe I'll need to go with some real time transcoding set up.. probably complicated!
