I've noticed this too, on the broken versions of Windows (anything after 7). And I'm going to assume that you are running one of the borked versions.
It depends entirely on exactly what you did on Windows to setup the share. But by default, it seems to create the share as read-only - and I have so far not been able to figure out how to make it read-write.
