Is it possible to use the SD card when boot and running from NVMe SSD hat

I have interpreted your ambiguous question to mean "having booted my system from an SSD can I use the running system to access the microSD card device?"
Sorry, yes that is what I meant to ask.
What Raspberry Pi hardware is being used a as basis for this question?
Pi 5 and Pi NVMe Hat+ booting and running only from the SSD on the hat.
For a 'flagship' RPi[5] board the answer is Yes. (Mention of a 'hat' probably means this is the relevant answer.) I can use my SSD-based RasPiOS installation on an RPi[5] board to prepare microSD cards using the official Raspberry Pi Imager utility.
Does anyone have the steps to do this? I assume the card will needs to be formatted, partitioned, and mounted manually? if the SD mount is unmounted can the card be removed/inserted while the Pi is running?

Also I imaged the SSD from the SD and with SD inserted the pi boot and runs from NVMe but the active cooler fan does not slow down after startup and it does if the SD is not inserted. df -h does not show the SD mounted so not sure why the old image is confusing it.
