Thanks, I set up roy2 and that works.
I notice that at the log in panel, when I select user roy it has a RPi logo next to it, but when I select roy2 it has the debian logo next to it, so I think roy2 must also be missing regular pi user attributes.
The problem is, I have many scripts, file and directory permissions, ssh keys and apps set up for user roy.
Is there no way of getting the original user roy to work?
