I noticed just because linuxgpio and linuxspi are listed when running:

avrdude -c ?type 2>&1 | grep linux

doesn't mean they work.

You said neither was included in your original post so that was what we were going by. It was always going to require configuration as how would it know what GPIOs or spidev node to use?
