This is not appropriate as an issue for MicroPython: it's someone else's code. If you could prove it doesn't hang on other platforms with some good example output, then maybe it might be worth debugging as an issue. Maybe ask at micropython · Discussions · GitHub instead, or on the project's Discord ...

Have you checked memory usage? Things that work for a bit but then don't on MicroPython are usually because the programmer forgot to clean up after themselves.
