The console uses bitmap fonts, terminal windows use whatever (outline, or last resort, bitmap) fonts you have available that FontConfig knows about. To use Terminus in a terminal window, there are a couple of package options: fonts-terminus (looks ugly at first glance) or fonts-terminus-otb.I do find it interesting that the LXTerminal Terminal Font doesn't seem to have anything similar to the Lat15-TerminusBold22x11 font found in the /usr/share/consolefonts, and the /usr/share/consolefonts doesn't have "Monospace Regular" which I am currently using.
To use Monospace Regular in the console, there are tools that will render a vector font at a specific bitmap point size and character encoding. I use otf2bdf, but I don't think it speaks the output format you need.
