Troubleshooting • Re: Pi 5 NVMe Boot Issue

Eventually, I could fix the problem. I did the following steps:
1- flash a sd card with the RPi os.
2- boot the RPi 5 with the sd card a couple of times until it settles all the configuration. set PCIE_PROBE=1in the eeprom and dtparam=pciex1 in config.txt. reboot one more time.
3- remove the sd card from the RPi and put it into a PC. together with the NVME ssd.
4- use dd to copy the whole sdX device (for example sdb. not sdb1 or sdb2) into nvme device. this copies everything including partition table.
5- connect the NVME ssd to the RPi 5.
Now you should be able to boot from NVME ssd without any problem.
optionally you can use gparted to extend the partition to use all the space on your NVME ssd.
